The Nobu perspective

Serengeti, Lamai North,
at your pace.

Lamai occupies the Serengeti's far north, a conservancy landscape of rolling plains, kopjes and river approaches beyond the busier central circuit. Its Kogatende access suits secluded game viewing, resident predators and possible seasonal herd movement.

The northern setting creates wide views and a strong sense of distance, with lions and plains game sustaining drives outside migration peaks. Kopjes and undulating ground give Lamai a more varied rhythm than open southern grassland.

A Lamai stay can pair with Kogatende or another Serengeti sector to balance seclusion and range. Walking and other concession activities depend on current permissions, while herd presence and river crossings remain entirely natural.

Your dates, your route

Start with your preferred month. Your designer will help match the season, chosen stays and connections to your route, interests and preferred pace.

late June–October

The long dry season

Late June–October is the long dry season and the broad northern migration window, with firmer tracks and strong general viewing. Lamai may host passing herds, but arrival dates, crossings, duration, predator encounters and all wildlife sightings are not guaranteed.

November to May

The green season

November to May brings greener northern country and fewer visitors after many herds circulate south. Resident predators and plains game remain, while rain affects access and distribution; migration movement, concentrations and every individual wildlife sighting continue to be unguaranteed.

Good questions. Straight answers.

When is the best time to visit the Serengeti?

It depends what you want: January–February for the calving and big cats on the southern plains, July–October for the Mara River crossings in the north, and the dry season (late June–October) for the easiest all-round game viewing.

Where is the migration in the Serengeti right now?

The herds move in a year-round loop — south for the calving early in the year, north toward the Mara River by mid-year. We position your camp to match the herds' expected location for your dates.

How many days do you need in the Serengeti?

Three to five nights lets you settle into the right region without rushing; longer if you're chasing the crossings or combining regions.

Is the Serengeti the same as the Maasai Mara?

They're one ecosystem across the Tanzania–Kenya border: the Serengeti is the Tanzanian side, the Mara the Kenyan —
