THE OTHER HALF OF THE STORY

Every wilderness
is someone’s home.

The wildlife is only half of East Africa’s story. The people are the other half.

The plains of the Maasai Mara are Maasai land; the northern frontier is Samburu country. We arrange time with these communities by invitation, with guides who tell their own story, and in ways that benefit the people you meet. The test for every encounter is simple: would it feel respectful from the other side? If not, we don’t do it.

Always ask before taking photographs. Your hosts decide what they share.

AN INVITED VISIT

Make time
for the conversation.

No two visits are the same. Your hosts shape the day.

  1. ARRIVING

    A proper welcome.

Meet your hosts with a guide who can help with language and context.

  2. TOGETHER

    Listen first.

Let people share what they choose, and ask before reaching for the camera.

  3. AFTERWARDS

    Take it with you.

Carry the conversation into the rest of the journey, and see the land a little differently.

BEFORE YOU GO

Good questions.
Straight answers.

What is a cultural safari?

A wildlife journey that includes genuine time with local communities, in Kenya most often Maasai and Samburu, arranged respectfully and to mutual benefit.

Are Maasai village visits authentic?

They can be, when arranged directly with the community and on terms of respect. We avoid staged, spectacle-style visits.

Can we take photographs?

Only with permission from the people involved, and within your hosts’ guidance.

Where can we go beyond the Maasai?

Samburu country in northern Kenya, and Ethiopia’s historic route and Omo Valley for deeper heritage.
