The Nobu perspective

Serengeti, Wogakuria North,
at your pace.

Wogakuria offers a small-scale northern Serengeti base within reach of Kogatende and Mara River country. Open plains, rocky ground and fewer central-circuit vehicles support patient drives there for resident predators and possible seasonal migration activity.

The area suits travellers seeking a quieter northern position without losing access to river-focused game drives. Lions and plains game remain important when the migrating herds are absent, keeping the landscape more than a single event.

Routes commonly connect Wogakuria with another Serengeti region to reflect season and flight logistics. Walking, ballooning and community visits depend on current permissions and conditions, while crossings and herd locations can never be scheduled.

Your dates, your route

Start with your preferred month. Your designer will help match the season, chosen stays and connections to your route, interests and preferred pace.

late June–October

The long dry season

Late June–October is the northern dry season and the broad window associated with Mara River movement. Wogakuria provides access to this country, but herd arrival, crossings, duration, predator activity and every individual wildlife sighting remain natural events and are not guaranteed.

November to May

The green season

November to May turns the northern plains greener and quieter after many migrating herds move south. Resident wildlife continues to use the area, while rain reshapes access and distribution; migration movement, predator encounters and all other sightings are not guaranteed.

Good questions. Straight answers.

When is the best time to visit the Serengeti?

It depends what you want: January–February for the calving and big cats on the southern plains, July–October for the Mara River crossings in the north, and the dry season (late June–October) for the easiest all-round game viewing.

Where is the migration in the Serengeti right now?

The herds move in a year-round loop — south for the calving early in the year, north toward the Mara River by mid-year. We position your camp to match the herds' expected location for your dates.

How many days do you need in the Serengeti?

Three to five nights lets you settle into the right region without rushing; longer if you're chasing the crossings or combining regions.

Is the Serengeti the same as the Maasai Mara?

They're one ecosystem across the Tanzania–Kenya border: the Serengeti is the Tanzanian side, the Mara the Kenyan —
