Wildebeest and zebra respond to rain, grazing and water rather than a fixed calendar, so the chosen region must match both travel dates and current conditions. Well-positioned camps reduce driving and protect time in the field.

Game drives lead the route, with ballooning or permitted walks added where appropriate. The design treats calving and river crossings as possible natural events rather than appointments, and every wildlife encounter remains uncertain.

The green season

November to May greens the plains and includes the southern calving period, alongside migrant birds, newborns and fewer vehicles in many sectors. Short and long rains redirect the herds, so camp choice follows current reports; wildlife movement and sightings are not guaranteed.

It depends what you want: January–February for the calving and big cats on the southern plains, July–October for the Mara River crossings in the north, and the dry season (late June–October) for the easiest all-round game viewing.
