The Nobu perspective

Serengeti, Lobo Northeast,
at your pace.

Lobo occupies the Serengeti's quieter north-east, where rolling plains, rocky outcrops and wooded valleys sit away from the central circuit. Its airstrip supports a remote base for resident predators, northern game drives and seasonal migration routes.

The mixed terrain breaks up the endless grassland, creating productive habitat for lions, leopards and plains game. Lower traffic can reward travellers who value long observation and landscape as much as headline herd encounters.

Lobo combines naturally with Kogatende, Lamai or central Seronera as seasons and flights dictate. Walking, ballooning and community visits require current permission, safe conditions and respectful arrangements, while no migration encounter can be promised.

Your dates, your route

Start with your preferred month. Your designer will help match the season, chosen stays and connections to your route, interests and preferred pace.

late June–October

The long dry season

Late June–October is the long dry season, when northern tracks are generally firmer and wildlife gathers around dependable water. Lobo supports resident game alongside possible seasonal herds, but migration routes, timing, predator encounters and all sightings remain unguaranteed natural events.

November to May

The green season

November to May brings lush plains, newborn animals, birdlife and quieter roads, although rain can alter access. Resident cats remain year-round, while the great herds circulate elsewhere according to rainfall; wildlife movement, distribution and individual sightings are not guaranteed.

Good questions. Straight answers.

When is the best time to visit the Serengeti?

It depends what you want: January–February for the calving and big cats on the southern plains, July–October for the Mara River crossings in the north, and the dry season (late June–October) for the easiest all-round game viewing.

Where is the migration in the Serengeti right now?

The herds move in a year-round loop — south for the calving early in the year, north toward the Mara River by mid-year. We position your camp to match the herds' expected location for your dates.

How many days do you need in the Serengeti?

Three to five nights lets you settle into the right region without rushing; longer if you're chasing the crossings or combining regions.

Is the Serengeti the same as the Maasai Mara?

They're one ecosystem across the Tanzania–Kenya border: the Serengeti is the Tanzanian side, the Mara the Kenyan —
