The Nobu perspective

Serengeti, Eastern Plains,
at your pace.

The Serengeti's Eastern Plains emphasise horizon-wide grassland, granite kopjes and the quiet drama of open country. Accessed through the central circuit, this lightly settled sector suits patient game drives, predator watching and carefully permitted walking experiences.

Short grass and long sightlines create strong conditions for observing cheetahs and other plains predators, while resident wildlife keeps the region relevant beyond migrating-herd periods. Kopjes provide shade, lookout points and visual rhythm.

The eastern sector works best when linked thoughtfully with Seronera or seasonal camps elsewhere. Ballooning, walking and Maasai visits remain subject to current permissions, conditions and respectful local arrangements rather than automatic inclusions.

Your dates, your route

Start with your preferred month. Your designer will help match the season, chosen stays and connections to your route, interests and preferred pace.

late June–October

The long dry season

Late June–October is the long dry season, bringing thinner cover and generally strong game viewing across the wider Serengeti. The Eastern Plains can remain rewarding for resident predators, but herd positions, animal movement and every wildlife sighting are not guaranteed.

November to May

The green season

November to May greens the open country, brings migrant birds and newborn animals, and often reduces vehicle numbers. Rainfall alters tracks and daily routes, while migration timing follows natural conditions; herd locations, predator encounters and other wildlife sightings are not guaranteed.

Good questions. Straight answers.

When is the best time to visit the Serengeti?

It depends what you want: January–February for the calving and big cats on the southern plains, July–October for the Mara River crossings in the north, and the dry season (late June–October) for the easiest all-round game viewing.

Where is the migration in the Serengeti right now?

The herds move in a year-round loop — south for the calving early in the year, north toward the Mara River by mid-year. We position your camp to match the herds' expected location for your dates.

How many days do you need in the Serengeti?

Three to five nights lets you settle into the right region without rushing; longer if you're chasing the crossings or combining regions.

Is the Serengeti the same as the Maasai Mara?

They're one ecosystem across the Tanzania–Kenya border: the Serengeti is the Tanzanian side, the Mara the Kenyan —
