Nobu / Tanzania
Grumeti Reserve, Western Serengeti.
The endless plains, where the herds have always moved.
The Nobu perspective
Grumeti Reserve, Western Serengeti,
at your pace.
Grumeti Reserve adds private-concession scale to the Western Serengeti, with riverine habitat, broad grasslands and access through Sasakwa airstrip. It supports expansive game drives and selectively permitted activities alongside seasonal movement through the wider ecosystem.
The Grumeti River and surrounding plains hold resident predators, hippos, crocodiles and grazing wildlife beyond migration periods. Private-reserve operations can create flexible field time, though exact activities depend on current concession permissions and conditions.
Grumeti combines well with a national-park sector to broaden habitat and pacing. Its western position can intersect herd movement, but routes should follow seasonal evidence rather than promise a crossing, concentration or particular sighting.

late June–October
The long dry season
Late June–October is the wider long dry season, when tracks are firm and wildlife gathers around remaining water. Grumeti's migration moment may occur earlier in the western passage, but herd timing, river events and every wildlife sighting are not guaranteed.
November to May
The green season
November to May brings green grass, newborn animals, migrant birds and fewer vehicles, while rainfall can alter routes and wildlife distribution. Resident game remains rewarding, but migrating herds follow changing forage; their location, movement and all sightings are not guaranteed.

When is the best time to visit the Serengeti?
It depends what you want: January–February for the calving and big cats on the southern plains, July–October for the Mara River crossings in the north, and the dry season (late June–October) for the easiest all-round game viewing.
Where is the migration in the Serengeti right now?
The herds move in a year-round loop — south for the calving early in the year, north toward the Mara River by mid-year. We position your camp to match the herds' expected location for your dates.
How many days do you need in the Serengeti?
Three to five nights lets you settle into the right region without rushing; longer if you're chasing the crossings or combining regions.
Is the Serengeti the same as the Maasai Mara?
They're one ecosystem across the Tanzania–Kenya border: the Serengeti is the Tanzanian side, the Mara the Kenyan —
