The long dry season

Late June to October and January to February are Moshi's clearest, driest windows, with firm foothill trails and strong early mountain views. They are also prime climbing periods, so the town becomes livelier with arriving and returning trekking groups.

March to May

The long rains

March to May brings heavy afternoon rain, green slopes and quieter streets, but waterfall and walking paths can become slick. Lighter short rains arrive around November; Kilimanjaro is often clearest at dawn before cloud develops, whatever the month.
