Lake Elementaita is a shallow soda lake between Naivasha and Nakuru, within the UNESCO-listed Kenya Lake System. Flamingos, breeding great white pelicans and the adjoining Soysambu Conservancy create a gentle Rift stop with birding, plains game, walking and night drives.

Low and luminous beneath the Rift escarpments, Elementaita changes with light, rainfall and water chemistry. Its islets support regionally important pelican breeding, while flamingo numbers shift according to conditions across the wider lake system.

Soysambu adds guided walks, game drives and night activity beside the lake. Straightforward road access from Nairobi makes Elementaita useful as a first or final Rift night, with all activities subject to current conservancy permissions.
