Aberdare National Park protects a cool, misty highland range of bamboo forest, moorland and waterfalls in central Kenya. Elephant, buffalo, leopard, rhino and elusive bongo share the landscape, while tree hotels overlook floodlit waterholes for patient night-time watching.

Aberdare replaces open savannah with enclosed forest, clouded ridges and waterfall tracks. Wildlife often appears gradually through bamboo or after dark at lodge waterholes, making atmosphere and patience more important than a high-volume game drive.

The park works as a cooler first night from Nairobi or a forested counterpoint to nearby rhino country. Drives, walks and waterhole viewing depend on rain, road access, park permissions and current lodge operations.
