YCONA LUXURY RESORT

THE NOBU VIEW

The stay

Private villas, gardens and varied dining define Ycona at Marumbi on Zanzibar’s east coast. Couples and families can choose beach, jungle or multi-bedroom layouts.

Ycona spreads forty private villas through a beachfront and forest setting at Marumbi on Zanzibar’s east coast. The accommodation is designed around privacy, but the experience differs noticeably between categories. Beach villas add private swimming pools and rooftop splash tubs, family villas bring multiple bedrooms and kitchens, and the Jungle collection places more emphasis on gardens and open-air bathing.

Choosing the right water feature matters. A rooftop splash tub is not the same as a private swimming pool, and the basic Jungle Villa does not list either pool or rooftop tub. Indoor floor areas should also be read separately from the generous plot sizes, so expectations are based on usable rooms rather than the entire garden.

Dining ranges from African and Italian influences to Pan-Asian fine dining, with a beach lounge and private-chef experiences extending the choice. A spa, yoga patio, gym and landscaped grounds encourage guests to spend substantial time within the resort.
