The Highlands takes a different approach to a Ngorongoro stay, using domed suites among the forested slopes of Olmoti Crater. Curved canvas and perspex walls frame the surrounding hills, while wood-burning stoves make the interiors feel inviting when the highland weather turns cool. It is a place to consider for the broader landscape as well as a day on the crater floor.
Eight suites are advertised, including an interconnected family arrangement and a honeymoon option with an outdoor hot tub. Each has an ensuite bathroom with hot running water. The shared lounge and bar continue the domed architecture, while a spa and sauna offer another way to spend a quiet afternoon. WiFi, solar and generator power, and limited laundry support a longer safari circuit.
Nobu would consider The Highlands for travellers drawn to distinctive design and guided exploration beyond a single game drive. Children can stay from age five, while the included crater hikes require guests to be at least twelve.
