THE NOBU VIEW
Six open stone-and-thatch bandas make Suyian Soul a simple walking-focused Laikipia retreat. Expect bucket showers, long-drop toilets, home-style meals and very limited connectivity.
Suyian Soul is a deliberately simple six-banda camp on Suyian Ranch in northern Laikipia, with walking and the smaller details of the landscape central to its character. The owner’s botanical interests shape the experience, alongside guided drives, birding and separately arranged longer walking or camel-supported excursions.
The open rooms are built from stone, thatch and repurposed timber, with individual solar systems for lighting and charging. Bathroom arrangements are an important part of the choice: showers use buckets beneath the open sky, and toilets are long-drop rather than conventional plumbed hotel facilities. The shared mess provides a shaded gathering place for home-style meals, with seasonal produce and dietary preferences accommodated by arrangement.
Nobu would consider Suyian Soul for travellers who actively want a low-key bush stay and are comfortable with limited connectivity. There is no mobile signal at camp and office WiFi is intended for emergencies, so it is poorly matched to a working holiday. The six-banda product remains distinct from andBeyond’s newer Suyian Lodge; a shared conservancy name is not evidence that they are the same accommodation.
