Reef & Beach Resort occupies a long stretch of Zanzibar’s southeast coast between Jambiani and Makunduchi. Its appeal is the breadth of a resort stay: several pools, a jetty, different dining venues and accommodation ranging from thatched bungalows to newer swim-up rooms. Guests can make the pool and meal programme the centre of the holiday, with excursions or diving arranged around it.

Room choice is particularly important. Ocean-facing suites, larger family rooms, garden categories and bungalows have different outlooks and sleeping arrangements. The swim-up rooms offer direct pool access from the terrace, but are reserved for guests aged twelve and over. Families with younger children should therefore look at other categories rather than treating pool access as a standard upgrade.

Dining can be booked on several boards, from breakfast through to all-inclusive. Makuti provides the buffet base, while Peponi, Bahari and Mango Beach Club add variety; some all-inclusive restaurant visits require reservations. The coastal setting is tidal, so pool and jetty access form a useful part of the experience.
