The stay

A four-bedroom safari house in northern Serengeti, with dedicated staff, guiding and two pools. Mkombe’s is designed around families, combining open-fronted adult rooms with enclosed children’s rooms.

Mkombe’s House Lamai gives one family or group a private home among the Kogakuria Kopjes in northern Serengeti. Its appeal is freedom over the day: a dedicated guide, vehicle, chef and house team allow meals, outings and quieter moments to follow the guests’ own rhythm. The pools and broad plains outlook make staying in feel as deliberate as setting out on safari.

The house has two open-fronted adult bedrooms and two enclosed children’s rooms, each with ensuite facilities. That arrangement is central to its family character and should be understood before matching it to an all-adult group. There is also a children’s snug, a main swimming pool and a separate toddler splash pool. Fans and natural ventilation are used rather than air conditioning.

Nobu would consider Mkombe’s for families who value exclusive use and a flexible pace in the bush. Children of all ages are welcome, although walking activities have their own age restriction.
