The stay
Mfangano Island Lodge offers nine individual lakeside rooms, a pool and garden-led dining on Lake Victoria. Family arrangements and honeymoon suites differ meaningfully, so request a specific allocation.
Mfangano Island Lodge sits in a sheltered bay on the island’s northern shore, with mature trees, boulders and Lake Victoria close to its rooms and shared spaces. It is an island extension to a Kenya itinerary rather than a Kisumu city hotel. The Kananga-operated lodge should also be distinguished from the separate Governors’ Mfangano Island Camp.
Nine individually described rooms give the stay a personal scale. Room 1 is a two-level suite with a lake-facing veranda; Room 7 incorporates a rock into its bathroom. Rooms 8 and 9 share a sitting room and deck while retaining separate bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms. Other rooms offer double or twin beds, and some are closer to the restaurant and pool. Exact allocation matters more here than a generic room label.
The lodge has a pool, restaurant, lounge bar and gardens. Meals draw on its permaculture produce and local fish.
For Nobu, this is a considered choice for couples or families wanting a slower lakeside interlude.
