THE NOBU VIEW

The stay

Kizingo Eco Lodge offers eight individual bandas among the dunes near Kipungani on Lamu Island. Thatched rooms, shared dining and boat access shape an unhurried stay.

Kizingo Eco Lodge occupies a remote corner of Lamu Island near Kipungani, where dunes and the ocean set the pace. The stay is built around eight individually named bandas rather than conventional hotel blocks. Thatched roofs, locally made furniture and open, screened or shuttered sides create a close connection to the coastal setting.

The rooms differ in useful ways. Four sit at ground or dune level, while Deep Sea, Dunes, Night Sky and Sunrise are reached by stairs. Sunrise has twin beds; the other bandas are described with doubles. En-suite bathrooms combine indoor and outdoor arrangements according to the room, and several spaces feature hanging or floating daybeds. Travellers with access needs should request a specific route and room assessment before choosing.

Meals are an important part of the rhythm. Overnight stays include three meals daily, with menus shaped by seasonal garden produce and seafood. The Kazuku Bar and communal dining spaces give the property a sociable focus without turning it into a large resort. Boat access and outings need advance coordination with the lodge.

For Nobu, Kizingo suits travellers who want an unhurried, low-key Lamu stay and are comfortable with open coastal architecture.
