The stay
Kibale Lodge offers eight Standard and Deluxe bandas on a ridge near Fort Portal, with private terraces, indoor and outdoor showers, butler service and a pool.
Kibale Lodge is Volcanoes Safaris’ small hilltop base for the Kibale region, opened in July 2024 and built around views towards the Rwenzori Mountains and the surrounding countryside. It is a lodge near the forest rather than accommodation at the trekking trailhead, so the transfer to the day’s briefing should remain part of the itinerary.
Eight hand-built bandas are split equally between Standard and Deluxe categories. Private terraces and en-suite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers give the rooms a strong connection to the setting. Fans are provided instead of air-conditioning.
A pool, sauna and two double massage rooms provide time away from the trekking schedule.
For Nobu, Kibale suits couples and wildlife-focused travellers who want a highly serviced country base.
