Jafferji House puts a richly decorated townhouse at the centre of a Stone Town stay. Built in 1913 and subsequently restored, it has ten individually themed rooms arranged around a collection of courtyards, balconies and lounges. The effect is intimate and characterful, with furnishings chosen to evoke the island’s historic interiors.
Air conditioning, mosquito nets, Wi-Fi and private bathrooms bring practical comfort to the decorative setting. Travellers sharing with a friend or child should specify the exact suite and bed arrangement rather than relying on the broad category alone.
The rooftop restaurant combines Swahili food with continental influences and views over the town towards the ocean.
