Elsamere Lodge combines a lakeside stay with the history of Joy and George Adamson and the work of the Elsa Conservation Trust. The former home and surrounding grounds give the visit a personal connection to Kenya’s conservation story, with museum visits and afternoon tea offering a different emphasis from a conventional safari camp.
The trust’s current accommodation material describes twenty en-suite rooms with lake-facing verandas. The house is described as a one-bedroom suite with its own lounge, rather than an exclusive multi-bedroom villa.
Full-board meals, time on the lawns and opportunities for birdwatching make it easy to enjoy a slower pace. Guided lake trips and other activities are available separately, with advance arrangements recommended.
