The stay
Chem Chem Lodge offers seven tented suites and a family unit among palms on Burunge’s Manyara side. Private guiding, a pool, gym and spa encourage an unhurried stay.
Chem Chem Lodge offers a spacious, quietly paced safari stay on the western side of the Burunge wildlife-management area, between Lake Manyara and Tarangire. Palms, acacias, stone and canvas shape the setting, with paths and raised walkways linking private suites to the main lodge. Its landscape and atmosphere are distinct from nearby Little Chem Chem.
Seven tented suites and one family unit provide the accommodation. King beds, reading areas, private patios and indoor and outdoor showers encourage time in the room as well as time outside. The family unit joins two en-suite tents by a small wooden bridge, giving parents and children separate spaces.
The pool, gym and spa support the lodge’s slower approach to a safari. Dining includes meals outdoors and a wellness-focused Ponya menu alongside the regular kitchen offering. A private vehicle and guide accompany each booking, with experiences shaped around the party rather than a fixed shared timetable.
For Nobu, Chem Chem suits couples and families who value privacy and breathing space between more intensive game-viewing stops. Children aged four and over are ordinarily welcome.
