The stay
A small Kinigi lodge with gardens, fireplaces, cottages, suites and two-bedroom villas. Full-board dining and shared villa space suit a considered gorilla-trekking stay.
Amakoro Songa is a small Kinigi lodge whose character comes from gardens, volcanic stone and a close connection to the surrounding landscape. The operator describes a terrace restaurant, campfire area and conservation-focused spaces, while its cottages and suites offer a more private retreat after a day in the Volcanoes region. The atmosphere is suited to travellers who want some quiet time around their trekking plans rather than treating the lodge only as a bed before an early start.
The accommodation has useful variety. Two Luxury Cottages and four Luxury Suites are complemented by two villas, each with two en-suite bedrooms and shared living space. Fireplaces feature in the suites and villas, and the villa layouts may work well for a family or two couples who want to spend time together.
