Nairobi National Park, just south of the centre, protects lion, black rhino, giraffe, buffalo and abundant plains game on open grassland, with the city skyline as a backdrop — open to the plains on its southern side so wildlife can move through. Minutes away, the Giraffe Centre is a conservation project for the endangered Rothschild's giraffe, where visitors feed and meet them from a raised platform; the nearby David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust cares for orphaned elephants.
