Trust & confidence
Responsible Travel
Why this matters to us
The places we travel are not a backdrop. They're someone's home, some animal's last open ground, some community's living heritage. If travel takes from them without giving back, the story runs out — and so does the reason anyone came. So we design journeys to leave things better, or at least to leave them whole. Not as a badge to wave, but as the only honest way to keep doing this. Below is what that looks like, plainly stated. Where we can name a partner or a project, we will; where we can't yet, we'd rather leave a gap than fill it with a claim we can't stand behind.

Common questions
- What does responsible travel mean at Nobu?
- Designing journeys that create value for travellers, communities, wildlife and landscapes — across four commitments: conservation, community, accessibility and slow travel.
- Do my trips actually help with conservation?
- Where possible, journeys are routed through conservancies and protected areas where your visit helps fund the land and wildlife. We'll be specific about where and how on a given journey. **[client to confirm — mechanism, partners.]**
- How does Nobu support local communities?
- By working with local people, camps and makers so value stays close to the places it's earned, and by building cultural encounters on consent and genuine welcome. **[client to confirm — partnerships.]**
- Is responsible travel more expensive?
- It isn't a premium add-on. It's how we design by default, across our full range from Essential Stay to Private Collection.
- What is slow travel?
- Choosing depth over distance: fewer places met more fully, an unhurried pace, and time to actually be somewhere — gentler on the land and a richer experience for you.
- Is accessibility part of responsible travel?
- Yes. We treat a story everyone can live as part of travelling responsibly, with accessibility designed into journeys rather than offered separately. See [Accessibility](/responsible-travel/accessibility).
